Why does AI software reset after every conversation? We lay out our technical vision for persistent memory, secure session continuity, and proactive briefings that help AI feel less like a search box and more like a true assistant.
Continuity changes the starting point
Starting from a blank conversation can be useful for a new question. It is less useful when you are returning to an ongoing project and must explain the same background again. Persistent context is our response to that repeated setup.
The aim is to let a later conversation build on relevant information that is already available, while giving different areas of work an appropriate home.
Memory should have a purpose and controls
Memory is valuable when it helps with the task: a preference that affects a draft, background for an ongoing project, or context that makes a follow-up more relevant. Remembering more is not automatically the same as helping more.
That is why visibility and control matter alongside continuity. Linse’s documentation describes how to inspect and manage memory and how conversation and account deletion work. Those controls are part of the experience, not separate from it.
From stored context to a useful return
Our direction for a persistent presence also includes helping you re-enter your work. A briefing or a relevant next step can provide a starting point when you return, instead of requiring you to reconstruct everything from a list of messages.
This is a product vision supported by incremental work. The journal records individual changes to context, navigation, voice, and work tracking rather than treating persistence as a single finished feature.
